Help & FAQ

Watch the demo (32 seconds)

Sound on - it shows the real editor and a finished captioned clip.

How do I caption a video?

1. Open CaptionSwift and add your video (up to 1 minute).
2. Press "Make auto captions" and choose Hinglish or English audio.
3. Read every caption and fix mistakes - AI captions can be wrong, especially names.
4. Pick a style in the Style tab.
5. Press "Make captioned video" in the Export tab. Recording happens in real time, so it takes as long as the video itself.
6. Use the download link once, within about 10 minutes.

What are the limits?

Free beta: 2 successful videos per day per internet connection, each up to 1 minute. When you reach the limit a notice appears and you can try again the next day. Manual captions (paste your own SRT) and editing always work without using the daily limit.

Which browsers and formats work?

Use the latest Chrome, Edge or Safari. MP4 with H.264 video works best. Some videos (for example HEVC/H.265) cannot be read by every browser - convert them to H.264/MP4 first. Caption export needs a browser with video recording support; if yours lacks it, SRT export still works.

Will the exported video work on WhatsApp and social apps?

Exports are MP4 (H.264 video + AAC audio) on Chrome and Edge, the format WhatsApp accepts. On those browsers the app converts the audio after recording; the first time this downloads a one-time ~25 MB converter, then takes a few seconds, and your video stream is copied without any quality loss. Browsers that record AAC natively skip this step. On some browsers export falls back to WebM, which WhatsApp and some social apps may not accept. We have not tested every phone and app - if an app rejects your file, tell us via the Contact page.

The download link expired. What now?

Links close after about 10 minutes or one download. Press "Make captioned video" again - it does not use your daily caption limit.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your video stays on your device. Only its audio is sent for transcription when you use auto captions. Read the Privacy Policy for details.
